“As the sun sets and Rosh Hashanah begins, I want to wish all those celebrating, a Happy New Year.  May you have a year filled with joy, meaning, good health, prosperity, and contentment.  The High Holy Days are a time for repentance, reflection, and prayer.  They are an opportunity to look back on the year just past and the promise of the year ahead.  I am so very proud of the work we have done in the New York City Council to create a better city, one that is fairer; more just and equitable‒a city where people of all religions can live and work in peace and security.  So, to all New Yorker’s of the Jewish faith celebrating, I wish you a Shanah Tovah U’metuka.”
