“Improving the health, safety, and success of all New Yorkers requires partnership and sustained investments to confront the challenges facing our city. We are encouraged that the $1 billion in state funding for our City for All housing plan is included in Governor Hochul’s Fiscal Year 2026 Executive Budget, and look forward to more closely examining the details. To ensure our families and students can thrive, deeper state investments for our city’s public schools and early childhood education system are essential. The health and safety of our communities must also be a priority in the state budget, with greater funding for effective mental health programs at the scale needed to eliminate waitlists for beds and treatment that are leaving too many people without essential care and too often in our city’s jail system. It is imperative that the City and State effectively employ their resources to support the greatest needs of New Yorkers.”
