“New York City’s economy has remained resilient, continuing a steady path of recovery as we continue to see growth and a positive financial outlook. Moving forward, the strength of our city will be determined by how we invest in New Yorkers and our communities, because working people make up the backbone of our city. Despite claims to the contrary, new arrivals have neither bankrupted nor destroyed our city. At a moment when our parks and vital greenspaces are vulnerable and experiencing brush fires caused by a historic drought, the lack of investments to maintain and protect them despite available resources is irresponsible.

“The Council has been consistent in calling for more funding to strengthen our city’s mental health infrastructure, and the Plan takes a step towards that by funding additional therapeutic beds at Bellevue Hospital. We will conduct a thorough review of the November Plan and its impact on New Yorkers and the resources they rely on to be healthy and safe.”
