New York, NY – “It was clear from the beginning that the Trump Administration’s decision to
add the citizenship question to the 2020 U.S. Census was yet another attack on
immigrants from our federal government. But we refused to be intimidated, and
we fought back. And today we learned that our efforts prevailed. The question
will not be included, a major victory for our city and our country.

Now comes the
next challenge. New York City has dedicated $40 million of the Fiscal Year 2020 budget
to fund a major outreach campaign to help get an accurate count.

Today we celebrate. Tomorrow, we unite our
efforts to ensure we count every New Yorker.”
