“On Memorial Day, we should all take time to reflect on the sacrifices made on our behalf by brave men and women in uniform. More importantly, we must follow up on this day of reflection with focused efforts to give our veterans all they deserve when they return home. That’s why the City Council has passed laws to strengthen the City’s Veterans Advisory Board and to ensure that all City agencies are doing their part to help veterans. The Council understands the importance of issues facing veterans and we will continue to work with local, state and federal officials, as well as the veteran community, to ensure that we provide the best services possible to the hundreds of thousands of veterans who call New York City home.”
