“Today, millions of undocumented-Americans should have started the process set forth last November by President Obama’s Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents program, which would have kept millions of families together and stopped unnecessary deportations. Instead, these undocumented-Americans are in limbo because of lawsuits without merit, which have put the administrative relief plan on hold – to the detriment of millions.

President Obama’s administrative relief plan is constitutional, long-needed and continues a long tradition of executive action on immigration going back several presidencies. For too long this country has urgently needed comprehensive immigration reforms and instead of working with the President, Republicans across the country would rather file frivolous lawsuits, which only further block critical action from happening. We are confident that courts will allow the administrative relief programs to move forward, and we urge undocumented New Yorkers to find out if they qualify and start getting ready by calling the Office for New Americans at 1-800-566-7636.”
