NEW YORK – Council Member Keith Powers released the following statement today following the testimony from Department of Citywide Administrative Services Commissioner Louis Molina before the Governmental Operations Committee:

“I am troubled by today’s hearing, in which Commissioner Molina failed to answer questions about the significant ethical concerns surrounding contracts negotiated by Deputy Commissioner Hamilton. DCAS must reassure New Yorkers that their operations are above board. The agency should pull the contract in question and immediately conduct a comprehensive internal review of the contracts that were negotiated by Deputy Commissioner Hamilton.

As I pointed out in my questioning today, DCAS scored the site at 250 Broadway higher than the space at 14 Wall Street that was ultimately chosen. The agency ignored their own internal scoring and the advice of the general counsel, and instead chose to award a lucrative government contract to a billionaire donor of Mayor Adams. These allegations are deeply concerning, and I urge Commissioner Molina to conduct a thorough review of the issues raised today.”
