Woodside – On Tuesday, October 25, New York City Council Member Julie Won was joined by the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) for a tour and to celebrate $200,000 in funding for a new overhead door at Engine 325 & Ladder 163 at 41-23 51st St. The Council Member secured this City Council funding as part of the $4,434,350 she allocated for public safety in Fiscal Year ‘24.

The firefighters at Engine 325 & Ladder 163 are locally known as “Woodside Warriors.” Engine 325 went into service 82 years ago on September 8, 1941, while Ladder 163 went into service at its original location at 22-61 35th St. on November 1, 1928, before moving to 41-24 51st St. on April 1, 1952. Since its inception, Engine 325 & Ladder 163 has lost at least 12 firefighters, including three who died on Father’s Day in July 2001 and two firefighters who died on September 11.

“I’m honored to provide $200,000 to fund a brand new overhead door for the brave men and women at Engine 325 & Ladder 163,” said Council Member Julie Won. “Since the firehouse’s founding over 80 years ago, the Woodside Warriors have saved countless neighbors and have partnered with our office to help us provide public safety updates on fires in the district. From ensuring our FDNY firehouses have modern doors to providing funding for more capital upgrades, I will continue to invest in our firehouses to ensure our firefighters can quickly and effectively respond to our city’s emergencies.”
