Council Member Borelli, is requesting that Mayor De Blasio and SBS Commissioner increase eligibility for programs recently announced during the “Recovery Agenda: City Launches Small Business Support for Hard-Hit Low and Moderate Income Communities.”

On November 25, the administration issued a statement entitled “Recovery Agenda: City Launches Small Business Support for Hard-Hit Low and Moderate Income Communities.”

 Council Member Borelli (R-South Shore) is teaming up with non-profit organization ArtBridge, known for their work in the New York City community to empower local artists to transform prominent urban spaces into gallery quality exhibitions, to help bring some holiday spirit to the streets within the South Shore Business Improvement District (Annadale, Eltingville, Great Kills).

All art materials will be distributed at Council Member Borelli’s Office located at 2955 Veterans Road West Suite #2E Staten Island, NY to help students, friends, and families, create unique, festive and artful wreaths and ornaments of the artisans’ choice.

Council Member Joseph Borelli, along with Staten Island parents of public school students, announced that as a result of Mayor de Blasio’s decision to close public schools, filed an emergency order to show cause for a preliminary injunction seeking the re-opening of public schools. This emergency order to show cause was filed in the Southern District of New York on Friday, November 20, 2020.

Council Member Joseph Borelli and Borough President James Oddo are pleased to announce the completion of the Page Avenue Sewer Project. This infrastructure upgrade along Amboy Road and Page Avenue, and adjoining side streets have lead to the addition of new water mains and fire hydrants, as well as the introduction of new storm sewers and catch basins designed to improve drainage and help alleviate localized flooding.

Council Member Borelli has passed his legislation (46 – to – 2) to allow restaurants the ability to institute a COVID-19 surcharge up to 10% until 90 days after the reinstatement of full indoor dining.

“We’re trying to give restaurants the option of adding a surcharge to let their customers know they need to raise a little bit more money to make their ends meet,” Borelli said.

Council Member Joe Borelli has sent a letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio, calling on them to work with pension boards to ensure that first responders or essential employees of any city agency, state agency, or public authority, who perishes from COVID-19 is presumed to have contracted the virus in the course of their work, and are, as a result, entitled to full contractual line of duty death benefits.
