Council Member Farah N. Louis joined fellow elected officials, community leaders, and advocates at Brooklyn Borough Hall during a National Day of Action to demand federal action protecting Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals. The citywide rally was organized in response to ongoing federal attempts and court rulings threatening to terminate TPS protections, a decision that would put more than 350,000 work-authorized individuals at risk of deportation.

Highlighting the severe humanitarian, political, and security crises currently affecting Haiti, Council Member Louis emphasized that mass deportations would be both dangerous and inhumane. She joined advocates in urging Congress to pass Senate Bill 4814, sponsored by U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey, which would extend TPS designations for Haiti through April 2029 and provide vital stability to immigrant families across New York City.
