Council Member Farah N. Louis joined Assemblyman Kalman Yeger, local community boards, and residents outside 5244 Kings Highway to oppose the city’s sudden plan to convert an existing family shelter into a single adult men’s shelter without community consultation. Council Member Louis called on City Hall and the Department of Homeless Services to prioritize transparency and respect district voices.
“This is about transparency, accountability, and respect,” said Council Member Louis. “Our community has long been overlooked, overburdened, and shut out of the process. That ends now.”
