FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRONX, NY – At the Stated Council meeting of May 13, 2021, Council Member Eric Dinowitz was appointed as the Chair of the Committee on Veterans of the NYC Council. Dinowitz was first elected to the Council in a Special Election and sworn in on April 15, 2021.

The Committee on Veterans has jurisdiction over matters relating to New York City’s Department of Veterans’ Services which works to provide New York City’s veterans with essential services and programs. Their work extends to areas such as economic empowerment, housing security, benefits, health and wellness, and culture.

“I am proud that my colleagues and Speaker Johnson have shown  confidence in me to name me Chair so soon after my election to the Council.  Our veterans can often be a forgotten population. They have given us the most, and they only deserve to be given back the best. Housing, work, and healthcare, including mental health, are just a start. As Chair, I will work with the Council and the Department to ensure that these basic principles are being upheld in the best manner possible”, said Chairman Dinowitz.
