CITY HALL — Today members of New York City’s Council’s Bronx Delegation elected Council Member Justin Sanchez to serve as Co-Chair of their delegation. 

“I’m grateful to my colleagues and fellow Bronxites for their trust in me. It is a privilege and a dream come true to represent my neighbors in the Bronx as a Council Member. I look forward to working with my colleagues across the borough, building stronger ties, and working in concert to make sure that the Bronx is receiving the resources and respect that it is worthy of,” said Council Member Justin Sanchez. 

Council Member Justin Sanchez represents the 17th Council District of New York City Council. District 17 comprises the South Bronx neighborhoods Mott Haven, Melrose, Morrisania, Longwood,  Hunts Point, Bronx River, and Crotona Park East. He is a lifelong resident of the South Bronx.

Amanda Farias, a second term Council Member who represents District 18, was also elected Co-Chair. Sanchez and Farias succeed former Co-Chairs Eric Dinowitz and Althea V. Stevens who represent Districts 11 and 16 respectively.

The Bronx Delegation of the New York City Council is a unified bloc of nine Council Members who represent their districts and neighborhoods across the borough and work collaboratively to advance legislation, secure funding, and advocate for policies that strengthen Bronx communities. 

The delegation includes both Co-Chairs and both former Co-Chairs as well as Council Members Elsie Encarnacion (District 8), Kevin C. Riley (District 12), Shirley Aldebol (District 13), Pierina Ana Sanchez (District 14), Oswald Feliz (District 15).
