Queens – In August and September, Council Member Julie Won distributed 1,206 backpacks and school supplies to students at NYCHA, local shelters, and schools throughout the district before the first day of school. Prior to the giveaways, the Council Member’s office collected backpacks and supplies through a donation drive over the summer.

“Through our backpack and supply giveaways, our office was able to help over 1,200 students in our district get ready for the first day of school,” said Council Member Julie Won. “My team and I loved meeting young scholars and seeing their faces light up after receiving brand-new backpacks. We’re so excited to see your growth during the school year and beyond.
