Council Member Borelli will be introducing a bill to begin a study on the secession of Staten Island. Co-sponsored by Minority Leader, and fellow Staten Island Council Member, Steven Matteo. The bill is also supported by fellow Staten Island electeds such as Borough President James Oddo.
“The legislation is intended to begin the process of studying the impact of secession on Staten Island, the city, and the state. With over 500,000 residents, Staten Island would be the second-largest city in New York and would be about double the size of Buffalo.” said Borelli.
“Staten Island is on the short of the stick when it comes to many city services like infrastructure and transportation,” he added.
