District 44

Simcha Felder

Borough Park, Flatbush, Gravesend, Mapleton, and Midwood

Simcha Felder is a lifelong Brooklynite with deep roots in the district he proudly represents. Simcha grew up, married, and raised four children in the same neighborhood and has spent his life working to make government more responsive to New Yorkers’ everyday needs.

A Certified Public Accountant with an MBA in Management from Baruch College’s renowned Zicklin School of Business, Simcha has also taught Management at Touro University and Brooklyn College. Outside of elected office, he served as Deputy Comptroller for Budget, Accounting, Administration, and IT in the New York City Comptroller’s Office, and held roles in both the State Assembly and the NYC Department of Finance.
First elected to the City Council in 2002, Simcha focused on cutting red tape, streamlining services, and making local government more accountable. He passed laws to reduce unfair parking and sanitation tickets, sponsored the five-minute grace period for parking violations, and helped put an end to the nuisance of unsolicited circulars and menus.

Leading efforts to revitalize his district, Simcha transformed empty city-owned lots into community assets like housing, playgrounds, and a new Hatzolah Volunteer Ambulance garage. He secured millions in funding to build parks and renovate local schoolyards, expand green spaces, and plant thousands of trees across the city.
