Background Information

Council Member Simcha Felder was born, raised and educated in the Midwood-Borough Park area, where he currently resides with his wife, Elana, and their four children. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Touro College. He is also a Certified Public Accountant, and a Professor of Management at Brooklyn College.

For seven years, Felder served as Chief of Staff for Assemblyman Dov Hikind. In this capacity, he helped thousands of people solve their problems with government services, both on the state and city level. He worked to procure funding for immunizations and flu shots, and for free car seats for babies. Felder helped pressure the city to clean up the mosquito-infested LIRR tracks, and assisted the NYPD in arranging joint community-police patrols. Working closely with community organizations, he secured millions of dollars in state and city funds for the community.

His prior employment includes a position as a legislative liaison to the New York City Council for Comptroller Alan Hevesi and as an auditor for the New York City Department of Finance.

A tireless community activist, Felder has close ties and working relationships with many local organizations, including the Council of Neighborhood Organizations, Guardians of the Sick, Mothers and Fathers Aligned in Saving Kids (MASK), Ohel Children's Home, the Voluntary Community Civilian Patrol and YMHA Senior Citizen Center.

With two decades of public service experience, Felder understands how to navigate the city bureaucracy and has a proven record of getting things done. His professional experience and educational background, combined with his passion for helping people with their needs, make him uniquely qualified to serve his constituents.
