“HerStory was made today with the swearing-in of our nation’s first Black and Asian-American woman Vice-President, Kamala Harris. For far too long, young girls and women were told to wait their turn or that these leadership positions were not ordained for them. That because of their gender, they were somehow inferior, but today we have proven those naysayers wrong. Having Vice-President Harris in the White House sends a clear message to the world that women are not waiting for a seat at the table, but instead are claiming it for themselves.

Today is a victory for all of us. When women are in the room, we get things done. With a global pandemic and an unprecedented economic recession, we need people who will enact sweeping change for our nation to survive these crises.

The days that lie ahead will be challenging, but we remain optimistic and full of hope for a better tomorrow in America with our new leadership in the White House. May God bless and guide our new President, Vice-President, their families, and the Administration as they begin this new journey of public service.”
