Adams imposed a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gothamist.com\/news\/mayor-adams-gives-single-adult-migrants-60-day-notice-to-leave-shelters\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">60-day<\/a>&nbsp;time limit in July and last month reduced it to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gothamist.com\/news\/nyc-reduces-shelter-stay-limit-to-30-days-for-adult-migrants\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">30 days<\/a>, saying the moves were necessary to free up beds in the city\u2019s overwhelmed shelter system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hanif called the limits \u201ccounterproductive,\u201d \u201ccruel,\u201d \u201cunjust\u201d and a \u201cdangerous precedent.\u201d \u201cThese notices are creating further chaos and confusion for a group of people who are here to start new, safe lives, dignified lives,&#8221; she added.
