Forward<\/a> – New York City Councilmember Shahana Hanif got blasted this spring for\u00a0voting against a resolution<\/a>\u00a0to create an annual day to \u201cend Jew-hatred.\u201d Some called the progressive freshman from Brooklyn antisemitic. She at the time explained that she could not get on board with the\u00a0initiative<\/a>\u00a0because it was spearheaded by \u201cright-wing organizations\u201d\u00a0supported by<\/a>\u00a0an activist who has\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0that Palestinians don\u2019t exist.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now Hanif is poised to introduce legislation of her own, which, she said, will address rising antisemitism at its root. <\/p>\n
