The building, which is located on the same block as the Flushing High School campus in an otherwise thriving residential and retail community, has fallen into extreme disrepair, with broken windows, boarded-up doors, and graffiti covering its façade.

This neglect has resulted in a hazardous and unsightly structure that attracts vermin and undesirable activities, further deteriorating the quality of life for nearby residents.

“The current state of this building is unacceptable,” said Councilmember Ung. “It is not only a blight on the neighborhood, but also a danger to the health and safety of local residents. I am calling on the owner to step up and take responsibility for this property, and make the necessary repairs and restorations to reflect the values of our community.”

As far back as 2012, the building attracted the attention of Community Board 7. According to local media reports, at the time the owner told the board he was in the process of selling the building and it would soon be demolished. Over 12 years later, the condition of the building has only gotten worse. The building has accumulated 140 violations with the Department of Buildings, with 133 of those violations still unresolved. The most recent violations were issued on September 23, 2024.

“Flushing is a dynamic community, and the neglect of this property goes against the character of this neighborhood,” said Councilmember Ung. “We are asking the owner to take immediate action to restore the building to a condition that reflects the pride and care of our residents.”

3506Parsons_LetterDownload

Councilmember Sandra Ung issued a formal letter to the owner of a building located at 35-06 Parsons Boulevard demanding immediate action to address years of neglect.
