NEW YORK – Council Member Rory I. Lancman issued the following statement today to mark the two-year anniversary of the Spectrum Strike. IBEW Local 3, which represents 1,800 Spectrum workers and is headquartered in Council Member Lancman’s District, went on strike against Charter Communications on March 28, 2017 after the company refused to offer its workers a fair contract.

“I am proud to support IBEW Local 3 today and every day as they fight for their families and their livelihoods.

“The men and women of IBEW Local 3 have fought for the past two years for a fair contract that protects their health care and retirement. At every step, Charter Communications has refused to negotiate in good faith with the union, or treat its workers with the respect and dignity they deserve. This is a complete disgrace.

“Charter has cheated its workers, its customers, and New York City. Charter does not deserve to do business in New York City, and the company will be held accountable for its actions.”
