We have reached broad agreement on the Inspector General legislation which will enhance the effectiveness of the Department, and at the same time will increase the public\u2019s confidence in the police force, building stronger police-community relations. While this is a strong and important step forward, we are also moving forward in a constructive fashion with the Community Safety Act, including a measure to stop racial profiling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would not have achieved all that we have in our negotiations without the dedicated work of community leaders and civil rights advocates, and I thank them for their commitment to this important issue.
