The funding will support the expansion and renovation of the hospital\u2019s Level 1 Trauma Center and primary care practice. Of the total $8 million investment, $5 million will go towards adding two trauma bays to the hospital\u2019s emergency department and $3 million will be used to upgrade the primary care clinic with the latest technology and equipment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NYC Health + Hospitals\/Kings County\u2019s Emergency Department saw over 125,000 visits last year, serving as a designated Level I Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and providing advanced emergency and critical care to patients across Brooklyn. Kings County\u2019s primary care services anchor community health in Central Brooklyn, seeing on average 1 million visits yearly, offering comprehensive preventive and chronic disease management, and helping to reduce avoidable hospitalizations through early intervention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo ensure every New Yorker has access to quality and affordable health care, we must invest in our public hospitals that serve as lifelines for our communities,\u201d said <strong>Council Speaker Adrienne Adams<\/strong>. \u201cThe Council is proud to have secured $8 million in capital funding for Kings County Hospital so that it can continue providing life-saving care to New Yorkers, regardless of background, status, or ability to pay. This funding commitment to improve the Level I Trauma Center and the hospital\u2019s primary care clinic will ensure patients have access to care that employs the latest technology and equipment.
