For too long, undocumented immigrants and families have lived in the shadows with the fear of deportation looming. The rhetoric of hate coming from the presidential campaign has further driven fear into these communities. DACA and DAPA begin to change that by finally shielding millions from deportations.<\/p>\n
While federal action has stalled on immigration reform- New York City has been proud to step up. We have a municipal ID program which is open to all, passed laws which limit our cooperation with ICE and have ensured that every single unaccompanied minor have access to an attorney. In New York we stand up for immigrants.<\/p>\n
DACA and DAPA are constitutional, needed and fall firmly in line with actions previous presidents have taken. The Supreme Court must do the right thing and uphold the law.\u201d<\/p>\n
