With the signing of legislation to make Diwali an official school holiday, families across the city can finally celebrate the Festival of Lights without interruption. I\u2019m proud to be a longtime supporter of making Diwali a school holiday, including <a href=\"https:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=3343807&amp;GUID=6EC1756E-AD30-473B-880D-6A86B11AC1E3&amp;Options=ID|Text|&amp;Search=Diwali\">co-sponsoring a resolution<\/a> by former Council Member Danny Dromm in support of this goal during the last Council session. As Speaker, I was thrilled to finally pass the <a href=\"https:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=5656511&amp;GUID=0082DECF-C6CE-4899-9FAD-1EA661DF95A8&amp;Options=ID%7CText%7C&amp;Search=Diwali\">resolution, now sponsored by Council Member Linda Lee<\/a>, which was especially meaningful for me and my colleagues who fought tirelessly for this outcome.
