Davis, a 41-year old former police officer and<br \/>\noutspoken anti-violence advocate, was assassinated during a Council Stated<br \/>\nmeeting. Today, the Council honored James\u2019s memory in a moment of silence and<br \/>\nrecommitted ourselves to fighting against all forms of violence. His death was<br \/>\na terrifying reminder that gun violence can occur at any place and any time and<br \/>\nto any person. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the Council, we remember James today<br \/>\nand on many days. The Council Member\u2019s Lounge, where we gather for everything<br \/>\nfrom budget negotiations to holiday parties, bears his name. The Lounge also<br \/>\nhas a plaque in his honor. He will always live on in the hearts of his family,<br \/>\nfriends, former colleagues and here in City Hall, the place where he worked to<br \/>\nimprove the lives of his constituents. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRest in power, James.
