This amount of time \u2013 93 days \u2013 reflects the stark salary discrepancies that continue to exist today, particularly for women of color. \u00a0In 2017, our society has not yet institutionalized the simple concept of equal pay for equal work and, while we fight to close the wage gap, individuals and families continue to suffer at the hands of entrenched economic injustice. That is simply unacceptable. In New York City, the Council has put forward a number of measures to safeguard residents from substantial levels of pay inequity, yet we will not stop fighting until we close the pay gap.
