To ban this community from using the restroom and wardrobe that corresponds to their gender identity is not only immoral and inhumane\u2014it\u2019s dangerous. This deplorable act of cowardice\u2014 which merely mirrors President Trump\u2019s hateful and divisive rhetoric\u2014 falls in line with the Governor\u2019s recent attempts to roll back the rights of Puerto Rico\u2019s LGBTQ community. Rivera Schatz should be ashamed of himself: instead of taking the time to dis-empower the most vulnerable Puerto Ricans, he should be focused on strengthening them and moving the island forward. We should all be honoring the Puerto Rican Senate\u2019s transgender employees for their public service, not denigrating them. I stand with Puerto Rico\u2019s LGBTQ community and will continue to do everything in my power to ensure the New York City Council advances civil and human rights for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl presidente del senado de Puerto Rico, Thomas Rivera Schatz, viol\u00f3 descaradamente la ley anti-discriminatoria de la isla al revocar los derechos y protecciones de los empleados transg\u00e9neros del senado. Prohibirle a esta comunidad a que usen el ba\u00f1o y la ropa que corresponde a su identidad de g\u00e9nero no s\u00f3lo es inhumano e inmoral, pero tambi\u00e9n es peligroso. Este acto deplorable de cobard\u00eda\u2014el cual no hace m\u00e1s que reflejar la narrativa de odio y divisiva del Presidente Trump\u2014se\u00f1ala los recientes esfuerzos del Gobernador para limitar los derechos LGTB en la isla. Rivera Schatz deber\u00eda de estar avergonzado: en vez de dedicare a debilitar a las comunidades puertorrique\u00f1as m\u00e1s vulnerables, deber\u00eda de enfocarse en empoderarlas y en avanzar el progreso en la isla. En vez de denigrarlos, todos deber\u00edamos de honorar a los empleados transg\u00e9neros en el senado de Puerto Rico por su servicio p\u00fablico.
