<\/b><\/i>“The selection of Republican fundraiser and insurance businessman Jose Carrion III to lead the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico is a disgrace, adds insult to injury, and highlights exactly why I opposed the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA) in the first place.\u00a0Instead of putting the people before the debt, it is clear from the start that special interests will have a greater say and influence than the needs of the struggling U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans need to come before the interests and wants of vulture funds – period.\u00a0 It’s also outrageous that the unelected fiscal control board held its first “official” meeting in New York City and not Puerto Rico. This meeting lasted less than a half hour and their only prior lengthy meetings were behind closed doors. By holding the meeting in New York City, the board has provided yet another example of who it will be looking out for in this crisis and that is clearly not the people of Puerto Rico.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEl nombramiento de Jos\u00e9 Carri\u00f3n III recaudador del Partido Republicano y empresario de seguros para dirigir la Junta de Supervisi\u00f3n Fiscal de Puerto Rico es una verg\u00fcenza y recalca exactamente el por qu\u00e9 me he opuesto al proyecto\u00a0(PROMESA) desde el comienzo. En vez de poner a la gente antes de la deuda, cabe decir que es evidente que los intereses especiales tendr\u00e1n m\u00e1s influencia que los ciudadanos estadounidenses que habitan en Puerto Rico. Los puertorrique\u00f1os tienen que venir antes de los inter\u00e9s y deseos de los fondos buitres-punto. Tambi\u00e9n es indignante que la Junta de Control Fiscal, que no fue elegida por los puertorrique\u00f1os, tenga \u00a0su primera reuni\u00f3n \u201coficial\u201d en Nueva York\u00a0 y\u00a0 no en Puerto Rico. Esta reuni\u00f3n duro menos de media hora y las reuniones anteriores que ha durado con m\u00e1s tiempo ocurrieron entre puertas cerradas. Con llevarse a cabo esta\u00a0 reuni\u00f3n en la ciudad de Nueva York\u00a0 la junta ha demostrado claramente que en esta crisis, los intereses no son lo de Puerto Rico\u201d.<\/p>\n
