New York City \u2013 The painful consequences of the Puerto Rican Government’s move to fire tens of thousands of public sector workers are felt deeply many miles away here in New York City. We are most troubled by reports of the government’s intent to end union contracts and the fair, good faith labor agreements that accompany them.<\/p>\n

At a time like this when Puerto Rico’s unemployment rate exceeds 15 percent, we need more collaborative efforts to minimize layoffs, spur economic development and job creation instead of heavy handed and divisive tactics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
