“Every day, it seems we are dealing with some new ruthless and ill-conceived measures proposed by the Trump administration that threaten our core values. Trump is now trying to deny birthright citizenship to the children of non-citizen parents, a right that has been enshrined in our constitution for 150 years. It is un-American and seems designed to further create an environment that is hostile to immigrants. Needless to say, New York City will fight back against this latest attack. This is not what we are about,” said NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson.

“Parece que cada día que pasa nos enfrentamos a duras y mal concebidas propuestas por el gobierno de Trump y que van en contra de nuestros valores fundamentales. Ahora, Trump amenaza con eliminar el derecho a la ciudadanía para niños y niñas nacidos de padres inmigrantes, un derecho protegido en nuestra constitución desde hace 150 años. La propuesta es anti-estadounidense y parece diseñada para fomentar todavía más un ambiente hostil contra los inmigrantes. Nueva York luchará contra este último ataque.
