The deal between the Related Companies and the MTA to redevelop the Western Rail Yards is a victory for our community and a real vote of confidence in New York City as a whole. This plan, which the Council passed the Zoning for in actions in 2005 and 2009, reflects years of conversations, outreach and input from community members. Soon, thousands of New Yorkers will have the opportunity for new affordable housing and cultural space right in their neighborhoods.

I’m thrilled The Related Companies will be developing a new part of our community while the MTA will also receive payments to maintain one of our most important infrastructure assets, our subway system.
