7/17/2017 – Councilman Peter Koo in partnership with the New York Mets sponsored a program that challenged children in the third grade to read an age appropriate book in the month of May.  The students who participated prepared a report on their favorite book.  One child from each school was selected as a winner for submitting the most creative and well-written report.

Lower East Side Ecology Center’s will be returning to Flushing’s Queens Botanical Garden Sunday July 16th. Residences and small businesses will be able to drop off their unwanted electronics from 10am to 4pm; events are held rain or shine. The collected materials will be either reused or recycled in a local, safe, and sustainable manner.

Flushing, NY – In partnership with the Queensboro Hill Civic Association, the NYC Parks Department and Made in NY, Council Member Peter Koo will host the summer’s first “Movies Under the Stars” series in Flushing featuring the hit movie, “Hidden Figures.” The movie tells the story of a team of African-American female mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S.

Flushing, NY – City Council Member Peter Koo today joined with environmental advocacy groups to announce “All Hands on Deck!” a Flushing Waterways Community Visioning Workshop.

The workshop seeks to create a cohesive community vision for the Flushing Creek and Flushing Bay. The state is currently considering a Long Term Control Plan to manage combined sewage overflows, and now is an opportune time to engage stakeholders in imagining and designing a future that provides greater opportunities for restoration, remediation, resilience and recreation with respect to Flushing’s waterways.
