Interns play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the office while learning how the New York City Council serves residents and advances legislation at the local level.<\/p>\n<p>This program is ideal for individuals who are passionate about social justice, civic engagement, and making a meaningful impact in their community.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission &amp; Purpose<\/h2>\n<p>The CM Internship Program aims to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide direct exposure to local government and the NYC Council<\/li>\n<li>Support constituent services and community outreach efforts<\/li>\n<li>Build professional skills in communication, research, and office operations<\/li>\n<li>Create pathways for youth and students to pursue careers in public service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Interns Will Do<\/h2>\n<p>Interns work closely with all members of the team, especially constituent liaisons, and may assist with:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Answering phones and assisting constituents<\/li>\n<li>Completing constituent intake forms<\/li>\n<li>Supporting case management and follow-up<\/li>\n<li>Drafting emails, letters, and internal memos<\/li>\n<li>Conducting policy and legislative research<\/li>\n<li>Helping plan and staff community events<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining spreadsheets and tracking data<\/li>\n<li>Contributing to office-wide projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Should Apply<\/h2>\n<p>This program is ideal for <strong>high school, college, and graduate students<\/strong> who are interested in:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Public service<\/li>\n<li>Social justice<\/li>\n<li>Law or public policy<\/li>\n<li>Communications<\/li>\n<li>Community organizing<\/li>\n<li>Youth leadership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants should be motivated, organized, and eager to learn.
