Vivian Cheng, 46, a travel agent, is charged with stealing tens of thousands of dollars from victims and stranding passengers with fraudulent airline tickets

New York, NY – Council Member Margaret Chin released the following statement after the arrest and arraignment today of Vivian Cheng, 46, a travel agent, on felony larceny and fraud charges related to a scam targeting the Chinese-American community:

“I applaud District Attorney Vance and his hardworking team of prosecutors for bringing charges in connection with this terrible scam that stranded travelers and cost victims tens of thousands of dollars in fraudulent airline tickets.

Bills to be introduced on Thursday will limit noise pollution caused by the growing number of sightseeing flights over our neighborhoods and parks
