“First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest condolences to the families of those killed and injured in today’s crane collapse, and my thanks to our first responders for their hard work. This incident is a tragic reminder of the importance of coordinating an ever increasing number of construction projects in densely packed neighborhoods downtown. In particular, we need to work together to stop the planned closure of the DOT’s downtown command center, which is needed now more than ever, as this tragedy so powerfully illustrates. I will continue to fight on behalf of downtown residents who are living every day with non-stop construction.”
