{"id":91,"date":"2025-10-15T17:20:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T17:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/lynn-schulman\/?p=91"},"modified":"2026-01-27T17:34:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T17:34:23","slug":"qns-long-island-jewish-forest-hills-hospital-and-river-fund-distribute-thousands-of-feminine-hygiene-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/lynn-schulman\/2025\/10\/15\/qns-long-island-jewish-forest-hills-hospital-and-river-fund-distribute-thousands-of-feminine-hygiene-products\/","title":{"rendered":"QNS &#8211; Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital and River Fund distribute thousands of feminine hygiene products"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><mark style=\"background-color:#ffffff\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">By Bill Parry<\/mark><\/p>\n<p>Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital partnered with the River Fund to distribute more than 14,000 feminine hygiene products for women in the southeast Queens community earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>One in five women suffers from period poverty, where they simply cannot afford to buy feminine hygiene products, according to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills is deeply connected to the Queens community, and we believe in showing up for one another in meaningful ways,\u201d said Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital President Lorraine Chambers Lewis. \u201cDonating feminine hygiene products is about more than meeting a basic need, it\u2019s about standing with women and girls who deserve dignity, comfort, and care.
