Meditz<\/mark><\/p>\n<p>Forest Hills residents can once again participate in sustainable waste management in their own neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>Following a pause due to budget constraints, the Big Reuse Community Composting Program in MacDonald Park officially launched to the public on Sunday, after Councilmember Lynn Schulman (D-Forest Hills) restored its funding.<\/p>\n<p>Community members may bring food scraps, such as fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds and eggshells, to the Forest Hills Greenmarket every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The waste will be processed into compost, which will help nourish the city\u2019s farms, gardens and green spaces while keeping organic matter out of landfills.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Chair of the City Council\u2019s Committee on Health, I know that sustainability and public health go hand in hand,\u201d Schulman said in a press release. \u201cI was so glad to be able to restore funding for this vital program, which will empower Forest Hills residents to make a real impact on our environment and ensure that community composting remains accessible to all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The city also offers curbside compost collection.<\/p>\n<p>Link to story: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qchron.com\/editions\/central\/making-a-greener-forest-hills\/article_2a7dd164-370a-58d2-8def-c873ef403aa3.html\">https:\/\/www.qchron.com\/editions\/central\/making-a-greener-forest-hills\/article_2a7dd164-370a-58d2-8def-c873ef403aa3.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Stephanie G.
