NEW YORK (WABC) — Biking weather is back and a record setting helmet giveaway is planned for New York City cyclists.<\/p>\n

Safety gear, including lights, will be handed out in all five boroughs starting on Saturday at the Russell Page Playground in Queens.<\/p>\n

Transportation Department Experts will be on hand to fit you for the right helmet.<\/p>\n

The program runs through the end of June.<\/p>\n

The city says giveaways like this and the Vision Zero program have paid off with fewer traffic deaths.<\/p>\n

Free Helmet Giveaways<\/h2>\n

-April 11, 2026, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Council Member Lynn Schulman at Russell Sage Playground, Queens
-April 19, 2026, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Council Member Christopher Marte at Sol Lain Playground (athletic field), Manhattan
