Following advocacy from the P.S. 150 community, the Council Member secured a total of $2 million in funding to upgrade the outdated auditorium. The Council Member also allocated $850,000 from her capital funding for schoolyard upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>P.S. 150 has been a beloved neighborhood school in District 26 since its inception in 1932. Following Council Member Won\u2019s school visit in 2023, Principal Parache flagged the school\u2019s need for general schoolyard upgrades, including more accessible equipment in the schoolyard, and upgrades to the auditorium, which include replacing the worn-out curtains and chairs and upgrading the air conditioning system. Since being elected, Council Member Won has continued to prioritize P.S. 150 and all District 26 public schools in the budget. The Council Member allocated $3,500,000 in FY \u201823 and $6,973,000 in FY \u201824 for new capital investments in schools across the district.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur students deserve schools that are modern and safe to nurture their development. I\u2019m thrilled to announce $2,850,000 in funding for P.S. 150 for much-needed auditorium repairs and schoolyard upgrades for our scholars,\u201d <strong>said Council Member Julie Won.<\/strong> I will continue to prioritize capital funding for improvements to all of our schools, especially focusing on upgrading our oldest schools to compete with newer schools opening across the city.
