{"id":16,"date":"2022-01-11T22:23:33","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T22:23:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/julie-won\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2025-07-15T17:05:32","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T17:05:32","slug":"budget","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/julie-won\/budget\/","title":{"rendered":"Fiscal Year \u201926 Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we worked on the FY&#8217; 2026 budget, my colleagues and I stayed focused on building a safer, more affordable, and more compassionate New York City, one where every neighborhood gets the investment and attention it deserves.<\/p>\n<p>T<strong>hanks to strong advocacy from the City Council and my role on the Budget Negotiation Team, we were able to make sure the Council\u2019s priorities remained front and center. I\u2019m glad to share that this budget was <em>unanimously passed<\/em> by the City Council, reflecting a shared commitment to protecting essential services and making smart, people-first investments across the five boroughs.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>Affordable childcare, education, and legal services have been my top priority, and it is reflected in our FY\u2019 26 budget. This fiscal year, we funded $10 million to launch a new 2K childcare program for 2 year-olds, 2.5 million for an AAPI studies curriculum, and $74.7 million for immigration legal services. Here are other notable investments citywide. <\/p>\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/julie-won\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/102\/2025\/07\/FY-26-Budget_FINAL.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of FY 26 Budget_FINAL.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-9f75ed61-b245-4779-bef9-35fd6fbe51a9\" href=\"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/julie-won\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/102\/2025\/07\/FY-26-Budget_FINAL.pdf\">FY 26 Budget_FINAL<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/julie-won\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/102\/2025\/07\/FY-26-Budget_FINAL.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-9f75ed61-b245-4779-bef9-35fd6fbe51a9\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n<p><strong>As the Chair of the Contracts Committee, I also want to celebrate the funding allocated to the Mayor\u2019s Office of Contract Services, an agency that plays a vital role in getting nonprofits paid for delivering essential services.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This includes a $12M boost in the Executive and Adopted budgets I negotiated as Chair of Contracts:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$7.4M for investments in PASSPort<\/li>\n<li>$1.1M for OTPS<\/li>\n<li>$1.5M in baselined funding for the Non-Profit HelpDesk<\/li>\n<li>$2.05M additional from admin at adoption: $270,000 for OTPS and $1,781,000 for staff\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When MOCS lacks resources, providers face delays, go unpaid, or shut down programs. There\u2019s still more to do to ensure the budget meets the needs of our most vulnerable New Yorkers.
