Council Member Joseph Borelli (R – South Shore) is announcing the First Annual South Shore Heath Fair on Tuesday, September 19 at the Mount Loretto CYO building (6451 Hylan Boulevard). It will be open to the public from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and will offer free screenings for a number of ailments.

The South Shore Health Fair was organized by Borelli’s office, but was made possible through partnerships with the private and public health and wellness community. Representatives from the Staten Island chapter of the American Cancer Society, HeartScan Services Incorporated, the Staten Island Heart Society, the Child Mind Institute, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and Donate Life NY are just several of the organizations that will be at this fair to answer questions. Both Richmond University Medical Center and Staten Island University Hospital are participating as well.

Council Member Borelli is urging his South Shore constituents to take advantage of the following health screenings and services which will be available at this fair:

FREE thyroid cancer screenings from HeartScan Services Incorporated, which were made possible through $5,000 in funding from Council Member Borelli’s office.

FREE health screenings including blood pressure, BMI, and pulse oximetry screenings, and diabetes and nutrition assessments from Staten Island University Hospital/Northwell Health.

FREE naloxone training for groups and individuals from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Due to past demand for the free screenings, constituents are urged to contact Council Member Borelli’s office at (718) 984-5151 to schedule an appointment.
