Council Member Joseph Borelli (R-South Shore) is calling on Mayor de Blasio and Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito of the New York City Council to reconsider their proposal to remove the Christopher Columbus statue, a cherished symbol of Italian-American heritage and contributions to the United states. Further, Borelli is requesting that they release to the public the criteria being used to evaluate which statues should be removed and which should be allowed to remain in our city.
