The New York City Council is seeking a System Administrator who will be reporting to the Director of Information Technology and will provide technical support to a government agency consisting of close to 1000 people.  The System Administrator will manage day-to-day operations, be assigned projects to implement new technologies, and help guide our planning of future projects.


$100,000 to $120,000


  • Manage and monitor windows systems and infrastructure.
  • Maintain backups.
  • Maintain business continuity plans.
  • Assist in integrating new technologies and applications into current environment.
  • Regularly update/upgrade systems as needed.


  • Knowledge of Windows Enterprise software:  Exchange, AD, Outlook, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of MS SQL.
  • 5+ years of enterprise production experience.
  • Server virtualization experience.
  • A thorough understanding of networking principles.
  • Proficiency in a scripting language such as python, PowerShell or other.


Due to the nature of this position, individuals will occasionally be required to work various shifts such as Saturdays, Sundays and/or evening shifts.
