DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The New York City Council is looking for law interns for various assignments during the summer months. With a commitment to students from all backgrounds, there is diversity and a progressive approach to empowering students with the necessary tools that can relate to both their educational background and to what they learn in a professional environment. As a law intern, you will have the opportunity to work directly with attorneys in local government. Focus of learning will be on necessary skills like critical thinking, aptitude in legal terminology, and practical use of software used in this field. May be tasked to assist with drafting related to producing legislation, legal research and/or document review. Participation in special projects required. Valuable experience will be gained by participating in this internship program; school credit available, where applicable. We offer the flexibility of full-time and part-time schedules.

REQUIREMENTS

Students in law school preferred. Must have excellent written and oral communications skills, be detail oriented and self-motivated, proficient in MS Office, proficient in Internet research. Proficiency with MS Office; display initiative, determination, and assertiveness; can work effectively on group projects as well as independently; are capable of interacting with a broad range of individuals.
