DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The New York City Council is seeking a hard-working, motivated summer intern to work with our team in the Communications Division. This internship offers a great opportunity for the intern to learn how institutions (government or business) get messages across as well as experience the inner workings of New York politics. Assists with the operations of the Press response team. Helps collect daily press clips on Council. Some nights and weekend work may be required to complete assigned tasks.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Strong writing, research and communication abilities, excellent organizational skills, copyediting abilities, and knowledge/interest in media and New York politics. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple projects is essential. Preferred candidates should have prior experience or may be a student enrolled in a course of study or program related to public affairs, communications or political science with a career goal of working in that field.
