DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The New York City Council, New York’s legislative body, is seeking to fill the position of Speech Writer in the Communications office.
The Speechwriter will work directly with the Communications Director, the communications office, policy, land use and finance staff to prepare speeches, testimony and long form remarks to highlight and promote City Council priorities and initiatives. Working with the Communications office, the speechwriter will assist with shaping and building messaging for the New York City Council.
This is not an entry-level position.
The ideal candidate will be able to quickly produce sharp copy and have experience in government and/or political communications, familiarity with New York City politics and previous speech writing experience.
New York City Residency required within 90 days of appointment.
Salary commensurate with experience.
