Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Land Use Division of the City Council is seeking Project Managers who will have a critical role in advising the City Council on a wide variety of projects, provide technical assistance to Council Members and their staff, community organizations and other stakeholders, ensure the efficient review of applications.


Under the supervision of the Director and Deputy Directors of the Land Use Division, the Project Managers will ensure timely review of Land Use applications before the Council; analyze development proposals; represent the City Council at meetings of civic, business and community groups, and public agencies; plan and conduct studies across a range of planning topics; work on development, community planning, housing, and preservation issues; create graphic and written materials for presentations

Education and/or Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and two to four years of satisfactory full‐time experience in city planning preferred; ability to understand and explain complex planning documents; familiarity with New York City Zoning Resolution and City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) and an interest in developing a broader understanding of the many regulations which affect the built environment; proficiency with United States Census and American Community Survey Data using American Factfinder and/or proficiency with ArcGIS software suite; and ability to analyze MapPLUTO data and other standard New York City datasets. Prospective candidates for this position must possess excellent writing ability; research and communication skills; work well as part of a diverse team; and demonstrate a strong ability to manage multiple projects while working under tight deadlines. Ability to work well in teams and with a diverse mix of people, exercise sound and careful judgement.    

New York City Residency Required within 90 Days of Appointment
