The New York City Council has a dedicated team of city planners, attorneys, and administrative staff that support Council Members and the Land Use Committee. The Land Use Division helps the committee Chairs conduct hearings, examines changes to land use regulations on behalf of Council Members, analyzes land use policies and engages in neighborhood planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Office Coordinator will have two primary functions: managing schedules and coordinating remote committee hearings, which will include the following responsibilities:
• Manage the schedule of the Director of the Land Use Division and coordinate schedules of Land Use Division staff to organize meetings with external stakeholders.
• Coordinate remote committee hearings, including scheduling, organizing, and staffing Zoom webinars.
• In addition to Land Use Division staff, the position requires frequent interaction with other Council divisions, the Speaker’s Office, other elected officials, City agency staff and external Land Use applicants.
• Assist the administrative team on an as needed basis.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience/education; 2+ years of high-level administrative experience. Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel and Word; ability and commitment to learn new material quickly and upgrade skills. Must be collegial, with the ability to interact confidently with organization heads, senior staff, elected officials, etc.
New York City Residency Required within 90 Days of Appointment
